This is similar to Connection between VM and another computer (Ethernet cable) but I think a slight difference is that in this case this needs to work with and without the host being connected to a router, and I'm not sure how bridged adapter mode works without the host being connected to a local network. I have provided a diagram to show my network layout this should ideally work with or without the connection between the host and the wifi router being enabled. If it's helpful, the Host Operating system is windows 10. Note that I cannot connect Host2 to the WIFI router, since it is outside of my control. I also tried using the bridge adapter configuration for virtualbox but that didn't seem to make Host2 visible to the VM over ssh. The connection between Host2 and the Host is an ethernet cable plugged into both machines. Check the Network connections to make sure that you have a Wireless Network Connection Icon/Entry, and that the Properties of the Icon (right click on the Icon) are correctly configured with TCP/IPv4 protocol in the Network Connections Properties. I can ping from within the virtual machine, so it does have internet access using NAT. ![]() I have virtualbox configured in NAT mode. Right now, I can ping Host2 from the host, but Host2 does not respond when pinged from within the virtual machine. Thank you.So I want to be able to ping Host2 from inside the Virtual Machine. I hope this will help you to troubleshoot. A guest can ping the host or other guests, but not external machines. The host can ping external machines and the guests. ![]() An external machine can ping the host, but not the guests. However, "Unidentified network" appeared against the icon. The guest machines is not accessible from outside. The icon of Virtual Box Host-Only Network was not marked by red cross. Red cross appears on the icon of 1 (says: Network cable unplugged) and 3 (says: Not connected). ![]() ![]() However, in both 3.0.0 and 3.0.2, both adapters show up in the Windows tray as 'Cable unplugged', and I cannot access the internet. I am able to access both local shares and the internet. In the control panel > Network and Internet > Network connection, three icons of network connection were shown: NAT: PCnet-FAST III (Am79C973) NAT: Intel PRO/10000 MT Server (82545EM) In VB 2.2.4, everything works fine. There was only one IP Address reported by this computer and that was for VirtualBox Host only Ethernet Adaptor.
